Courtney Clenney left Miami-Dade jail around 1 a.m. in mid-August 2026 and entered Florida Department of Corrections custody to finish a sentence she already started in 2022. TMZ caught her name dropping off the county inmate search. The county confirmed the handoff. County jail was four years of waiting. State prison is the remaining clock on a deal she signed on August 10.
That deal: guilty to manslaughter with a deadly weapon in the April 2022 death of Christian Obumseli, her boyfriend, 27, in their Edgewater condo. Second-degree murder came off the table. Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson imposed six years in prison and five years of probation, plus mental-health evaluation and treatment. Credit for time served since the August 2022 arrest leaves less than two years, her lawyers have said closer to 18 to 20 months depending on DOC math. She had faced decades if a jury had convicted on the original count. A plea is not a trial’s full airing. It is an admission to the reduced charge and a sentence both sides could live with.
Obumseli is the person this file is about when it is about anyone other than the docket. He died in that apartment. His family does not get a transfer story. They got a funeral in 2022 and a courtroom in 2026. Self-defense was the account Clenney’s side told for years. Manslaughter with a weapon is what she stood up and admitted. Those two sentences can sit together without this article retrying the night.
What a transfer is
It is a bus and a new set of rules. Attorney David Prieto told Oxygen the local jail had become a kind of home for four years and that transitions are hard. He also said she had been threatened and shoved in county and moved between units. High-profile inmates collect attention. DOC will decide the exact facility and the exact out date. Five years of probation after that is the long tail: conditions, evaluations, a judge still in the background.
Her father spoke after sentencing about starting over. Starting over is a family’s language. It is not a revision of the plea. OnlyFans and the model caption are how strangers found the case. They are not the legal theory. The legal theory is a deadly weapon and a dead partner and a number of years that already half-elapsed in a county bunk.
Keep the proportions
She is 30. He would be older than 27. The internet that turned their relationship into episodes does not get a victory lap because the name changed systems. Florida’s prison system is where manslaughter sentences go when the county is done holding the defendant. Clenney is there now. Obumseli is not coming back. The remaining months are the state’s. The five years after that are still the state’s. That is the news. Everything else is a true-crime thumbnail. Do not give the thumbnail the last word. Give the plea, the credit, the transfer, and the man who did not live to see August 2026.
