Fenris Lu A Phoenix Morgue Burglary Suspect Accused of Sex Acts with Corpses
Downtown Phoenix. Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, Seventh and Jefferson. About 1:30 a.m., May 20, 2026. 911 for a burglary. Broken glass. Deputies, county security, Phoenix PD.
Fenris Lu, 31. Booked on four counts of sexual conduct with a dead person, third-degree burglary, burglary tools, criminal damage, attempt to escape custody. Sheriff Jerry Sheridan: eleven body bags opened; some of the dead were touched. FOX 10’s law-enforcement sourcing put camera footage and four of the eleven in the sexual-contact allegation. Bond $500,000 cash. Preliminary date late May. Court file sealed in early write-ups while next of kin were notified.
The county attorney asked for time for two reasons that should stay in the story: families, and whether any of those remains were evidence in other prosecutions. A morgue is a chain of custody as much as a chapel. If bags were opened, other cases can wobble.
Arizona makes sexual contact with a dead human body a felony. That is the charge. It does not require a narrative of what the camera saw. The people in those bags had names the public does not need and families who did. Lu is presumed innocent until a plea or a verdict. The building is presumed to need a better lock.
No how. No list. A mugshot, a bond, eleven bags, four counts, a downtown address the city already knows. If you knew someone in that cooler, call the number the sheriff’s office published for families. Everyone else can leave the dead alone.
