Rockstar has not published a square-kilometer figure for Leonida. Everything else is homework. Fan mapping projects that stitch trailer pixels, leaked 2022 material, and coordinate guesses put Grand Theft Auto VI’s state in a band that usually lands between about two and three times GTA V’s landmass. The brief you handed over sits in that band: roughly 2.2 to 2.7 times Los Santos and Blaine County, maybe 160 to 220 square kilometers. Other desks convert the same homework into 118–132 square miles, or 110–150 km², or “about 2.5x.” The 3.5x posts are the ones the careful mappers keep throwing out. Treat every number as a rumor with a ruler until November 19, 2026, when the disc can be driven.

What is not a rumor is the shape they keep drawing. Vice City on the southeastern water, Florida-coded, denser than a single Los Santos. Port Gellhorn as the working port town. Grassrivers as the swamp that ate the Everglades’ homework. Leonida Keys as a chain that runs farther east than the first trailer implied. Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga National Park, a lake that splits the north, highways that look like they want to be driven for more than a loading-screen joke. GTA Boss lists six confirmed regions and still stamps official map size as TBC. That stamp is the honest one.

Why size arguments go nowhere

GTA V’s playable dirt is not just acreage. It is density, interiors, traffic, and whether a swamp is a texture or a place you can drown in. A map 2.5 times larger with empty grass is smaller than a map 1.8 times larger with doors that open. Fan reconstructions after the cover-art wave in 2026 got more complete and more confident. Confidence is not a ship date. Rockstar’s own comparison language, when outlets paraphrase it, tends to land on “significantly larger than V and RDR2,” which is a sentence that sells without a surveyor.

Vice City alone being talked about as larger than Los Santos is the claim that would actually change how the game feels, if it survives contact with the build. Two coasts, keys, wetlands, a park, an industrial town: that is a state, not a city with a desert hat.

How to read a concept graphic

It is a community poster. It is useful the way a subway map drawn from spy photos is useful. Do not plan a speedrun on it. Do not fight strangers over 40 km². The interactive State of Leonida maps exist so people have something to zoom while they wait. On launch those maps get replaced by the real roads.

GTA VI is still a November 2026 game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the current public schedule. The map will be whatever size it is when the loading screen ends. Until then 2.5 times V is the consensus middle of the rumor. 160 to 220 km² is one way to write that middle. 3.5 times is how you start a comment war. Leonida will be large. The swamp will be the part that surprises people who only wanted another Vice City postcard. That is the only prediction that does not need a leak. The rest is fans with graph paper doing Rockstar’s job until Rockstar does it.
