Quavo and Offset are officially making music together again.

The surviving Migos members reunited in Los Angeles over VMAs weekend at a listening event for Quavo’s upcoming album QRÖMELIFE, where they stood side by side as their new collaboration, “Away,” played for the room. The song appears on Quavo’s new album, due October 2, and represents the pair’s first released collaboration in years.

Footage from the event showed Quavo and Offset together as the unreleased record blasted through the speakers, a moment that carried considerably more weight than the typical guest appearance at an album party. After years of tension, separate careers and grief following Takeoff’s death, Quavo and Offset are no longer merely talking about repairing their relationship. They are putting new music behind it.

And “Away” may only be the beginning.

Quavo has now publicly confirmed that another Migos project is being worked on, along with plans to tour again, potentially setting up one final chapter for a group whose run was interrupted by internal divisions and then permanently altered by Takeoff’s killing in 2022.

Offset Shows Up for Quavo’s New Era

The Los Angeles appearance came during the rollout for QRÖMELIFE, Quavo’s third solo studio album and one of his most ambitious projects since Migos stopped operating as a trio.

Reports from the event described Offset and Quavo smiling and enjoying themselves while the album played, with “Away” providing the night’s biggest Migos-related surprise. XXL reported that the reunion happened around the VMAs weekend festivities in Los Angeles, while Complex described the song as their first collaboration in five years.

There is some variation in how outlets count the gap. XXL points to Quavo and Offset appearing on Ye’s Donda 2 track “We Did It” in 2022, while their last album together as members of Migos was 2021’s Culture III. Complex characterizes “Away” as their first collaboration in five years.

Either way, this isn’t simply another feature between two Atlanta rappers.

It is Quavo and Offset.

That distinction carries years of history with it.

“Away” Makes the Reunion Musical

The tracklist for QRÖMELIFE confirms “Away” as the fourth song on the album with Offset listed as the featured artist. The project is scheduled to arrive October 2 through Quality Control/Motown.

That makes the reunion concrete.

Quavo and Offset have appeared publicly together before during the long process of repairing their relationship, but “Away” moves the reconciliation back into the place where fans originally knew them: music.

The snippet played at the listening party appeared to feature Offset prominently, although the complete record has not yet been released and the brief preview doesn’t establish exactly how Quavo and Offset divide the verses, hooks or other sections of the finished track.

Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.

QRÖMELIFE arrives Friday.

Pharrell Is Behind Quavo’s New Album

The Offset reunion isn’t the only reason QRÖMELIFE is receiving attention.

Pharrell Williams executive produced the album, giving Quavo one of the most accomplished creative partners of his career.

Quavo has said the two worked on the project during a period when he was still processing grief and needed an outlet to express what he was going through. He described QRÖMELIFE as a journey through difficult periods toward the other side, with faith, family and music playing central roles.

The project contains 14 tracks and a guest list that stretches well beyond Offset.

Future appears on “BA,” while T.I. joins Quavo on “Backwards.” Pharrell, Tyler, the Creator and A$AP Rocky appear together on “Baby Breath,” Lil Baby is featured on “Ball My Love,” Yung Miami appears on “HAOYU DEWDAT,” and Justin Timberlake closes out the featured collaborations on “House Music.”

Quavo’s official site lists the album for an October 2 release.

But for longtime Migos listeners, the name that jumps off the tracklist is Offset.

Their Relationship Had Been Broken for Years

The reunion means more because Quavo and Offset’s relationship didn’t simply drift apart.

Migos fractured publicly.

By 2022, Quavo and Takeoff had begun releasing music as Unc & Phew without Offset. Their collaborative album Only Built for Infinity Links arrived in October of that year, making clear that the classic three-man Migos lineup was no longer functioning as it had during the group’s peak.

Quavo and Takeoff spoke publicly about loyalty while questions swirled around what had happened with Offset.

Then tragedy overwhelmed everything.

Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, was shot and killed in Houston on November 1, 2022.

He was 28.

The killing transformed what had been an internal Migos breakup into something far more permanent. Whatever disagreements existed between the three men could no longer be resolved in their original form.

Quavo and Offset were left grieving the same person while still dealing with their own fractured relationship.

Takeoff’s Death Changed the Meaning of a Migos Reunion

For years, the obvious question was whether Quavo and Offset would ever repair things.

But after Takeoff’s death, a “Migos reunion” could never mean restoring the group exactly as it had existed.

Takeoff wasn’t merely another member.

His understated delivery, rapid flows and technical consistency were fundamental to the Migos sound.

That makes every conversation about another Migos album complicated.

A new project from Quavo and Offset can continue the group’s legacy, but it cannot recreate the original trio.

Quavo appears to understand that distinction.

When discussing another Migos chapter, he has repeatedly invoked Takeoff’s memory rather than presenting the idea as if nothing has changed.

Earlier this month, Quavo told Atlanta’s V-103 that Migos would return for one more run.

“We coming back,” he said. “We’re going to do it one more time.”

He added that touring was part of the plan and said they intended to “do it right.”

That is much stronger than vague reunion speculation.

A Final Migos Album Is Being Discussed

Quavo has gone even further in other recent interviews.

During an appearance with Baller Alert, he confirmed that he and Offset are working toward another Migos album and suggested fans could hear something connected to it around the group’s anniversary in January.

Pitchfork previously reported that Quavo had teased a final Migos album honoring Takeoff, though at that point no release date had been announced.

XXL subsequently reported that Quavo’s plans include a group album featuring posthumous Takeoff vocals.

That possibility immediately raises the stakes.

If the project moves forward as described, it would not simply be a Quavo-and-Offset collaborative album using the Migos name. It could potentially place all three members on records again through previously recorded Takeoff material.

The exact structure of the proposed album remains unclear, however.

There is not yet a confirmed tracklist or release date, and the extent of Takeoff’s posthumous participation hasn’t been publicly detailed.

For that reason, QRÖMELIFE is the immediate story.

“Away” is real, it is on the tracklist, and it arrives October 2.

The larger Migos project is still developing.

The Signs of Reconciliation Have Been Building

Sunday’s reunion didn’t appear out of nowhere.

Quavo and Offset have gradually become more publicly connected again.

In May, the official Migos Instagram account returned after roughly two years of inactivity and posted images showing Quavo and Offset together in the studio, immediately triggering speculation that the two were recording again.

That was significant because studio photographs suggested something beyond a ceremonial reunion.

They weren’t merely appearing together to honor Takeoff.

They were working.

Quavo later discussed reuniting with Offset in the studio during an interview with HOT 97, while also fielding questions about the possibility of another Migos album.

Now the public has heard part of the result.

“Away” is the first clear musical product of that renewed relationship headed for an official release.

Their 2023 BET Awards Reunion Was an Earlier Turning Point

Quavo and Offset had already shown that Takeoff’s memory could bring them onto the same stage.

At the 2023 BET Awards, the two surprised viewers by reuniting for a tribute to their late groupmate.

It was an emotional moment because reports of friction between them had persisted even after Takeoff’s death.

The tribute didn’t instantly erase the history between them.

But it demonstrated that there was still something connecting Quavo and Offset beyond business.

Takeoff was family to both.

And Migos was something the three of them had built together long before the group became an international phenomenon.

The difference in 2026 is that the reconciliation is no longer limited to memorial moments.

Quavo and Offset are making records again.

Migos’ Last Album Arrived Five Years Ago

Migos released Culture III in June 2021.

The album completed the Culture trilogy that had become central to the group’s mainstream legacy.

By then, Migos had already helped reshape the rhythmic language of mainstream rap. Their triplet-heavy flows, ad-libs and chemistry had been imitated throughout hip-hop and pop music, while songs including “Bad and Boujee,” “T-Shirt,” “MotorSport,” “Stir Fry” and “Walk It Talk It” had turned the Atlanta trio into global stars.

But Culture III ultimately became the final studio album released by all three members during Takeoff’s lifetime.

The following year brought the split.

Then Takeoff’s death.

That is why talk of one final Migos album carries considerably more emotional weight than the typical rap-group reunion.

There is unfinished history involved.

Quavo Has Several Projects Connected to Takeoff

The possible Migos finale also isn’t Quavo’s only plan involving Takeoff’s legacy.

Complex reports that Quavo has discussed assembling a posthumous Takeoff album as well as a follow-up to Only Built for Infinity Links, the joint project Quavo and Takeoff released shortly before Takeoff was killed.

That suggests Quavo is thinking about Takeoff’s unreleased material across several different contexts rather than treating it as one interchangeable archive.

A Takeoff solo project would serve one purpose.

A continuation of Unc & Phew would serve another.

A final Migos album with Offset would carry an entirely different historical meaning.

How those projects ultimately materialize remains to be seen.

“Away” Is the First Thing Fans Will Actually Get to Hear

For all the speculation surrounding a final Migos album, “Away” is the immediate milestone.

On October 2, listeners will be able to hear Quavo and Offset together on a newly released record again.

That alone would have been difficult to imagine during the most strained period of their relationship.

The fact that Offset appeared alongside Quavo while the song was previewed makes the moment even more significant.

This isn’t a feature assembled through emailed verses with the artists never appearing in the same room.

They have been photographed in the studio together.

They appeared together at the listening event.

And Quavo is openly talking about doing more.

Pharrell’s Role Gives the Moment Another Layer

Pharrell executive producing QRÖMELIFE also gives the reunion an interesting creative backdrop.

Quavo has spoken appreciatively about Pharrell pushing him creatively while he was processing grief, describing him as a “big brother” during the making of the record.

That makes QRÖMELIFE less like a collection of features designed to generate streams and more like an intentionally constructed chapter in Quavo’s life after Takeoff.

Offset appearing within that project fits the album’s themes almost perfectly.

If Quavo views the record as a journey through grief, family and recovery, repairing his relationship with another member of his family and his former group naturally becomes part of that story.

“Away” may ultimately be judged simply as a song.

But its existence already represents something bigger.

The Migos Story Isn’t Finished Yet

Five years after Culture III, four years after Migos fractured and nearly four years after Takeoff’s death, Quavo and Offset are again standing next to each other while new music bearing both of their names plays through the speakers.

That doesn’t restore the original Migos.

Nothing can.

But it does reopen a chapter many fans believed had closed permanently.

Quavo’s QRÖMELIFE arrives October 2, with Pharrell Williams overseeing the project and Offset officially appearing on “Away.”

Beyond that, Quavo says more Migos music is coming.

He has talked about another album.

He has talked about touring.

He has talked about doing it one more time for the people and honoring Takeoff in the process.

For now, though, fans don’t have to wait for a hypothetical reunion to see whether Quavo and Offset are really back on musical terms.

The first evidence arrives Friday.

“Away” puts them on the same record again.

And after everything that happened to Migos, seeing Quavo and Offset standing together while that song played may have been just as important as hearing it.
