Sexyy Red could face a $5 million default judgment in a lawsuit accusing the St. Louis rapper of posting the home address of her child’s grandmother online and encouraging her millions of followers to attack the woman.

Nicole Barnes, 51, filed the lawsuit in March 2025 against Sexyy Red, whose legal name is Janae Wherry, over an alleged social-media incident that occurred several months earlier.

Barnes, the paternal grandmother of one of Sexyy Red’s children, alleges the rapper posted a photograph of her Hazelwood, Missouri, home along with its address on Facebook in December 2024 and encouraged followers to “kick in the door” and commit acts of violence at the property.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Sexyy Red denies them.

The dispute has now taken another turn: Barnes is asking the court to enter a $5 million default judgment after claiming the rapper failed to respond to the lawsuit within the required timeframe.

Barnes Says Her Family Was Forced to Move

According to the lawsuit, the conflict stemmed from tensions involving Sexyy Red and the father of one of her children.

Barnes maintains that she had nothing to do with their dispute but became caught in the middle of it.

Her attorney, Steven Weaver, said when the lawsuit was originally filed that his client had been pulled into a conflict between Sexyy Red and her child's father that did not involve Barnes.

Barnes alleges Sexyy Red subsequently exposed her home to a massive online audience.

The complaint says the rapper shared Barnes’ address and an image of the Hazelwood residence before urging people to “kick in the door” and carry out violence against her.

Barnes says she took the alleged threat seriously enough that she and members of her family left the house out of concern for their safety.

She also filed a police report and alleges that the incident caused continuing emotional distress. Barnes says she began therapy and has struggled to find comparable housing at a price she can afford.

Barnes Is Now Seeking $5 Million by Default

The lawsuit resurfaced in September 2026 because of a significant procedural development.

Barnes claims Sexyy Red failed to formally respond to the case despite efforts to serve her.

According to newly reported court documents, Barnes says conventional attempts to serve the rapper were unsuccessful before service was eventually attempted through publication in a newspaper. Barnes contends Sexyy Red still failed to respond by the required deadline.

Barnes is consequently asking the judge to enter a default judgment in her favor for $5 million.

That does not mean Sexyy Red has been ordered to pay $5 million.

The judge has not ruled on Barnes’ request, and a motion seeking a default judgment is different from a court actually entering one.

Sexyy Red Denies the Allegations

Sexyy Red has now publicly pushed back against the case.

After reports of the potential default judgment emerged, her attorney Jason Lampert told TMZ that the rapper disputes Barnes’ account.

“The claims asserted in this case are baseless and completely without merit,” Lampert said.

He added that Sexyy Red “categorically denies these allegations” and intends to defend herself in court.

That response is significant because when Barnes originally filed the lawsuit in March 2025, no public response from Sexyy Red had been reported.

The case now presents sharply conflicting accounts.

Barnes alleges the rapper used her enormous social-media platform to expose her location and encourage violence against her, leaving her frightened enough to abandon her home.

Sexyy Red denies those allegations and says she plans to fight the lawsuit.

For now, the $5 million remains an amount Barnes is requesting, not money she has been awarded.

The judge has yet to rule on the default-judgment motion, leaving both the procedural fight and Barnes’ underlying allegations unresolved.
