Sony and Rockstar Games are giving PlayStation 5 players two new ways to enter Vice City, unveiling a pair of limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers designed specifically around Grand Theft Auto VI.
The controllers were revealed during Sony's Sept. 3 State of Play presentation, with separate Black and White editions built around two different sides of Vice City. The White Limited Edition represents the city at daybreak, while the Black Limited Edition takes inspiration from its neon-lit nightlife.
Both controllers are scheduled to launch Nov. 19, the same day Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on PlayStation 5. Sony has set the recommended U.S. retail price at $84.99 each, with preorders opening Sept. 10.
Two Sides of Vice City
Rather than simply placing a GTA VI logo on a standard DualSense, Sony and Rockstar designed the controllers around the visual identity of Vice City.
The White Limited Edition is intended to capture the atmosphere of the city at daybreak, drawing from its white beaches, pastel skies and coastal setting.
The Black Limited Edition goes in the opposite direction, taking inspiration from Vice City's nightlife and the neon glow that has long been associated with the fictional Florida-inspired city.
Despite the contrasting base colors, both controllers share several design elements. Each features a shimmering, color-shifting finish designed to reflect colors associated with a Vice City sunset and its neon lights.
Sony also molded custom palm-tree details directly into the controllers, giving the designs a tactile element alongside the official Grand Theft Auto VI branding.
Black Edition Will Be Harder to Find
While both controllers are being released in limited quantities, their availability will differ.
Sony says the White Limited Edition will be sold through [PlayStation Direct](https://direct.playstation.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) and participating retailers in markets where it is available.
The Black Limited Edition will be more restricted. In the United States and other regions where PlayStation Direct operates, Sony says the controller will be available exclusively through its direct storefront, while select retailers will carry it in other regions.
That distinction could make the Black version particularly sought after among collectors and Grand Theft Auto fans.
Designed to Launch With GTA VI
The controllers are more than a cosmetic tie-in to one of the year's biggest game releases.
Sony says GTA VI will use the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to dynamically respond to gameplay as players experience the story of protagonists Jason and Lucia. The company has been promoting its partnership with Rockstar around the PS5 version of the game, saying the console's features will play a significant role in the experience.
Grand Theft Auto VI takes players to the state of Leonida, including Rockstar's modern interpretation of Vice City. The game is scheduled to launch Nov. 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For PlayStation players, Sony is making sure the game's arrival extends beyond what appears on the screen. With one controller built around Vice City's sun-soaked days and another around its neon nights, the company is turning the visual identity of GTA VI into physical hardware just in time for launch.
