Soulja Boy Reacts to Drake Dropping 3 Albums at Once, Says He Did It First: “I Was the First Rapper to Drop Three Projects in the Same Day BTW”
Sunglasses emoji. May 17, 2026. Screenshot of a 2009 Rap Radar headline: Soulja Boy dropping three mixtapes on Halloween.
The tapes: Paranormal Activity, Dat Piff, Cortez. Late October 2009. Real files. Not a myth.
Two weeks earlier Gucci Mane had already run The Cold War as three tapes in one night — Gucci America, Burrr Britain, Burrr Russia — Drama, Scream, Holiday, 10/17 at 10:17. Community Notes put that under Soulja’s tweet. First depends which blog you open.
Drake’s night is a different unit. ICEMAN, Habibti, Maid of Honour. Forty-three songs. Studio albums. Billboard 200 at 1, 2 and 3 the same week. 687,000 combined official units. 140 million Spotify album streams for ICEMAN alone on day one. That is not a DatPiff triple.
Soulja and Drake have history that does not need a new chapter. Breakfast Club 2018 already had volume. This post is a footnote with a sunglasses face. He wants the patent. The comments wanted the tracklist from 2009. Most of them could not name a song.
Mixtape culture in 2009 was a flood. Everybody with a DJ and a ZIP could “drop three.” Almost nobody opened the Billboard 200 with all three. Counting firsts without counting format is how these posts work. Soulja was early among the people who tried it as a stunt. Gucci was earlier that month. Drake made the stunt a chart event.
The graphic is Soulja on the pink wall with the stack of cash, Drake in the red Ferrari jacket looking down. Two men claiming a calendar trick. One did it when the internet was blogs. One did it when the internet was the chart. BTW is doing a lot of work.
