Quantavious Grier, who records as Unfoonk, left Macon State Prison on parole on August 11, 2026. Georgia Department of Corrections records are the source the recap desks used. He is Young Thug’s older brother. The sentence he was finishing was not the original YSL plea. It was the revocation. December 2022 he pleaded guilty to one count of violating Georgia’s RICO act and theft by receiving stolen property: 12 years, two commuted to time served, ten on probation. May 2023 he was arrested as a convicted felon with a gun. June 2023 a Fulton judge pulled the probation and sent him to serve nine and a half years. Three-plus years later the parole board let him out. That is the clock. It is not a verdict that the RICO count was theater. He pleaded to it.

Before the YSL file there was another file. He had served about eleven years toward a life sentence for murder and won release on appeal in 2019. Rolling Out put that in the biography because it is the biography. A man who already did a decade does not get a soft landing when a probation officer says curfew, fines, community service, and a firearm. 11Alive’s hearing coverage listed those alleged breaches. The judge sent him back. Parole in 2026 is the state deciding the remaining years can be served outside. Conditions will exist. They always do.

What this does and does not close

It closes a prison stay tied to a probation violation on a RICO plea. It does not close Young Thug’s own probation, which still has a written exception that he may associate with Unfoonk and Gunna when the general rule says he may not associate with co-defendants. Family is a carve-out on a piece of paper. It is not a reunion special.

Unfoonk was on Slime Language 2. He stood in frames with Future and Gunna. The music is the reason his name is in entertainment briefs. The docket is the reason he was in Macon. Those two facts can sit in the same paragraph without a slime metaphor.

The honest sentence

He pleaded. He violated. He did years. He paroled. Atlanta will treat the release as a chapter ending because the YSL case has been a television series with recaps. A parole date is not an acquittal and it is not a concert announcement. It is a corrections line. If he records again, the records will have this date in the liner notes whether he prints it or not. August 11, 2026. Out. The plea and the revocation stay in the file. The brother exception stays on Thug’s papers. That is the news. The rest is a family the state has been in the middle of since the indictment.
