Charleston White is pushing back against allegations surrounding his recent Florida arrest, claiming he was the one defending himself during an altercation that ended with him being booked into the Broward County Jail on a misdemeanor battery charge.

The controversial comedian and internet personality was arrested by Hollywood police on Sept. 12 and booked on one count of touch-or-strike battery. White has since been released from custody and publicly denied assaulting the woman involved, offering an account dramatically different from allegations that began circulating on social media following his arrest.

White described the situation as a “setup” and maintained that he did not initiate the physical confrontation. He said the dispute centered partly around expensive designer merchandise he had purchased and was attempting to take back, estimating the value of the purses, shoes and other luxury items at roughly $50,000 to $60,000.

“I did not put my hands on a woman,” White said while addressing the case after his release. He also claimed that both people involved should have been arrested and said he has at least six witnesses who can support his version of what happened.

White has pleaded his innocence publicly, declaring himself “not guilty” as the misdemeanor case remains pending.

Woman Makes Abuse Allegations on Social Media

The arrest drew considerably more attention after a woman who says she was involved with White posted a series of allegations online.

The woman, identified on social media as Kay Pretty, accused White of physically assaulting her and alleged that she had endured physical, mental, emotional, financial and other forms of abuse during their relationship. She also accused him of taking money, jewelry, clothing and bags and posted images she said showed injuries she suffered.

Those are allegations made by the woman and have not been proven in court.

There is also an important distinction between the accusations posted online and the criminal case itself. Initial reporting on White’s arrest did not include a police narrative identifying the alleged victim or explaining precisely what conduct led to the misdemeanor battery charge. As a result, it was initially unclear how much of the woman's broader account was directly connected to the charge filed against White.

White strongly disputes her account.

White Says He Was Defending Himself

According to White, the confrontation escalated after he decided to reclaim expensive designer merchandise.

He claimed the woman became angry after he took back luxury items he said he had purchased, including Christian Louboutin merchandise and designer purses. White alleged that she later returned to the residence in what he described as a jealous rage.

White also said blood visible inside the residence came from him rather than the woman, claiming he suffered a bloody nose during the confrontation.

His representative subsequently gave TMZ a more detailed account, alleging that White was “violently attacked” and suffered a bloody nose. The representative also disputed other accusations involving a cellphone and damage to a door at the residence.

None of those claims have been established by a court, either. They represent White and his team's account of the confrontation.

The competing stories leave a sharply disputed picture of what happened inside the residence.

The woman alleges White abused and assaulted her. White says he did not assault her, was attacked himself and acted in self-defense.

White Released After Misdemeanor Booking

What is established through the booking information is narrower.

Hollywood police arrested White on Sept. 12, and he was booked into the Broward County Jail on a misdemeanor touch-or-strike battery count. Initial jail records showed the case as pending trial and listed a $0 bond while the matter awaited judicial review.

White was subsequently released from custody.

After getting out, he wasted little time addressing the accusations publicly.

Rather than keeping quiet while the case proceeds, White has openly challenged the allegations, maintained his innocence and said witnesses can corroborate his story.

The dispute has consequently expanded beyond a relatively straightforward misdemeanor booking into a much larger public battle between two conflicting accounts.

For now, the criminal charge remains pending, while the more extensive accusations circulating online remain allegations.

White insists the public has not heard the full story—and says he intends to fight the case.
