Foolio’s Mother Speaks Before Alicia Andrews Was Sentenced to 15 Years: “They Carry On the Plan to Hunt My Son Down Like a Deer in the Woods”

Sandrikas Mays. May 22, 2026. Hillsborough County. Microphone, glasses, the statement Court TV and First Coast News both printed.

“My son was hunted, followed and ultimately murdered in what authorities described as a coordinated plot involving multiple individuals. It is extremely painful to hear Alicia Andrews portray herself as someone who didn’t know what was going on. They could have turned around, but they still carried on the plan to hunt my son down like a deer in the woods. My son’s life mattered. He was not disposable.”

That is the whole quote the caption shortened. The jury had already called Andrews’s count manslaughter, not first-degree. The four men already had life. Defense asked time served and probation, a “minor” role. Judge Fernandez gave the fifteen-year cap and said she would not have ruled differently than the last judge on the trial errors the defense listed.

Andrews’s story on the stand was reconciliation and food and staying in the car. Prosecutors said lookout and tracking through birthday clubs to the hotel. The mother was answering that story, not writing a new indictment. Victim impact is allowed to be a feeling. It is not a fifth verdict.

Charles Andrew Jones II was 26. Three people with him were wounded. Jacksonville to Tampa is a two-and-a-half-hour drive and a lifetime if you do not come back. Mays has used other court dates to talk about other names. Those are separate files if they exist. This file is one night and five defendants and a mother who needed the record to say her child was not leftover.

Fifteen years will not unmake the hotel parking lot. It is what the lesser count allowed. Her sentence in the room was the deer line. Print it once. Leave the rest of the woods alone.
