Nearly two decades after Camp Rock introduced Disney Channel audiences to Mitchie Torres, Shane Gray and Connect 3, the franchise is officially coming back—but the reunion looks slightly different this time.

Disney is bringing Camp Rock 3 to Disney Channel and Disney+ on Nov. 28, 2026, with Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas returning on-screen as Connect 3. Demi Lovato is also back with the franchise as an executive producer, reuniting professionally with the Jonas Brothers on the series that helped transform all four performers into defining Disney stars of their generation. Lovato, however, has not been announced as returning to play Mitchie Torres.

That distinction matters because the original Camp Rock revolved heavily around Lovato's Mitchie and Joe Jonas' Shane Gray. While Disney is leaning into the nostalgia surrounding the original cast, Camp Rock 3 is designed around a new generation of campers rather than simply recreating the story of the first two movies.

Connect 3 Is Heading Back to Camp

The new movie finds Connect 3 returning to Camp Rock after losing the opening act for a major reunion tour. The band heads back to the place where its story began in search of a new performer who can join them on the road.

That search sets up a competition among a new group of campers, bringing the franchise's familiar combination of music, rivalry, friendship and romance into a new era.

Joe Jonas returns as Shane Gray, while Nick Jonas reprises Nate Gray and Kevin Jonas returns as Jason Gray. Their presence gives the sequel a direct connection to the original movies while allowing the younger cast to occupy the center of the new story.

The next generation includes Liamani Segura as Sage, Malachi Barton as Fletch, Lumi Pollack as Rosie, Hudson Stone as Desi, Casey Trotter as Cliff, Brooklynn Pitts as Callie and Ava Jean as Madison. Sherry Cola also joins the movie as Lark, a new character connected to the camp.

Maria Canals-Barrera is returning as Connie Torres, Mitchie's mother, creating another connection to the original Camp Rock even without Disney announcing Lovato as part of the on-screen cast.

Demi Lovato Is Back—Just Not as Mitchie

Lovato's involvement is one of the most notable aspects of the revival.

She and the Jonas Brothers all serve as executive producers, meaning the four stars whose careers became closely associated with Camp Rock are participating in shaping the franchise's return. But reports describing Lovato as reprising Mitchie go beyond what Disney has announced.

For now, her confirmed role is behind the camera.

That still represents a significant reunion considering the history connecting Lovato and the Jonas family. Camp Rock premiered in 2008, with Lovato starring opposite Joe Jonas and Nick and Kevin appearing as the other members of Connect 3. Its sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, followed in 2010.

The movies arrived during a period when Disney Channel was producing some of the biggest young stars in entertainment. Lovato's recording career accelerated alongside the success of the original film, while the Jonas Brothers were in the middle of their first enormous run as a pop group.

Years later, their careers moved in different directions, making any return to Camp Rock inherently nostalgic for the audience that grew up with them.

The Original Cast Has Already Been Revisiting Camp Rock

The groundwork for the revival became particularly visible during the Jonas Brothers' recent live performances.

Lovato reunited with Joe, Nick and Kevin onstage during the Jonas Brothers' 20th-anniversary tour kickoff in 2025, performing Camp Rock favorites including “This Is Me” and “Wouldn't Change a Thing.” The surprise appearance immediately revived interest in seeing the performers together again and became a major nostalgia moment for longtime Disney Channel fans.

The timing ultimately proved appropriate.

Disney announced Camp Rock 3 the following month, confirming that the franchise was moving forward with the Jonas Brothers and Lovato involved as executive producers.

Production began in Vancouver in September 2025 and has since been completed.

Camp Rock Is Returning 18 Years After the Original

The first Camp Rock debuted in June 2008 and became one of Disney Channel's signature original movies of the era.

Lovato played Mitchie Torres, an aspiring singer who gets the opportunity to attend the prestigious music camp after her mother takes a job working in its kitchen. There she meets Shane Gray, the arrogant but talented pop star played by Joe Jonas, who has been sent to the camp to repair his image.

The movie's music became inseparable from its popularity. Songs including “This Is Me,” “We Rock” and “Gotta Find You” helped turn the project into more than a television movie and gave Disney another major musical franchise following the success of High School Musical.

The sequel arrived two years later and expanded the rivalry by pitting Camp Rock against the competing Camp Star.

Then the franchise stopped.

For more than 15 years, there was no third movie despite recurring nostalgia for the original cast and occasional comments from its stars about revisiting the series.

That changes in 2026.

A New Generation Gets Camp Rock

Disney's approach to the third movie appears to be a balance between nostalgia and succession.

The Jonas Brothers provide the strongest on-screen link to the original films. Lovato's executive-producer role keeps another central figure from the franchise involved creatively. Connie Torres returns. But the actual camp story introduces an almost entirely new generation of young performers.

That structure allows Disney to bring back viewers who remember watching Camp Rock in 2008 while simultaneously introducing the franchise to an audience that wasn't born when the original premiered.

It also leaves one obvious question hanging over the project: whether Mitchie Torres could eventually appear.

Disney has not announced a Demi Lovato cameo or on-screen return, so any suggestion that Mitchie will appear should remain speculation unless the studio or Lovato confirms otherwise.

What is confirmed is still a substantial reunion.

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas are putting Connect 3 back together on-screen. Demi Lovato is helping guide the movie as an executive producer. And on Nov. 28, Camp Rock will officially reopen its doors for the first time in more than 15 years.

The band is back.

Mitchie, at least for now, remains behind the scenes.
