Boosie Badazz stopped sitting for VladTV in April 2026 over a raise that did not happen. He had been in the $25,000-a-chair class, the number Vlad later put on camera as the rate when the interviews were doing about six million views. After a break he asked for more. Boosie framed it as five thousand. Vlad framed it as a jump toward $35,000 — a 40 percent hike — while the individual videos were down 10 to 15 percent and crew, travel, and edit still cost what they cost. Vlad said $35,000 would be a loss. Boosie said cheap. They stopped. Twenty years of taped conversations became a spreadsheet argument with a friendship taped on the side.
Vlad went on his own channel and walked through the math. He swatted the 6ix9ine-jealousy subplot by saying Tekashi’s numbers were just bigger. Akademiks, on the same network, said Boosie thought he was bigger than the program and that $5,000-as-the-whole-fee was a fan-facing compression of a $25,000 check. Boosie told the people flaming him that he was the reason a lot of the Black audience ever gave Vlad a chair, that he stood up when the room did not, and that the same people now lecturing him used to need him as a bridge. Then he pointed at Patreon and at doing the interviews himself. Boosted Network, Cam Capone drop-ins, the independent circuit: that is the version of “I don’t need your building” available to a man who still wants to talk for an hour.
What the rate fight actually is
Interview YouTube is a mall. The mall takes risk, cameras, and the archive. The guest takes the day and the clip. When the guest is Boosie, the clip is also a weather system. Paying $25,000 is already not a podcast-bro rate. Asking $35,000 when the last cycle slipped is how a guest tests whether the mall still thinks he is the food court. Declining is how the mall says the foot traffic changed. Both men can be correct about their P&L and still be done with each other.
Self-hosting sounds like freedom until you are the one booking the studio and eating a quiet upload. Boosie has the name to fill an independent living room. He has not, in the months after the split, rebuilt a daily Vlad-sized machine. Showing up on Cam Capone is cheaper than owning the mall. It is also not a surrender. It is a calendar.
Respect versus invoice
Vlad said it was not only business, it was respect, and that he hoped they would tape again. That is the line you say when you still want the catalog of old episodes to feel warm. Boosie said he made Vlad acceptable. That is the line you say when you want the raise to sound like back pay for cultural labor. Cultural labor does not show up on a YouTube analytics screenshot. Analytics do not care who integrated whom in 2014.
The useful number is still $25,000 versus $35,000 versus a 10–15 percent dip. Everything else is pride with a ring light. They will either do another interview when the number works or they will keep narrating the breakup on other people’s shows. April 2026 was the month the number stopped working. The footage from the twenty years before that is still up. That footage is the only asset neither of them can un-upload. The raise is the only asset Vlad would not upload. That is a divorce. It is not a mystery.
