Lloyd unexpectedly walked away from his Detroit concert with more than he came with after a fan’s wig became caught on his blazer and was pulled completely off her head.

The R&B singer was performing alongside Keyshia Cole at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre on Aug. 30 when he left the stage area to interact with fans. During one encounter, Lloyd embraced a woman standing near the front before turning and making his way back toward the stage.

There was just one problem: her wig was coming with him.

Video from the show captures the bizarre moment as the hairpiece detaches from the fan’s head and remains caught on Lloyd’s jacket while he continues walking through the crowd, seemingly unaware of what had just happened.

Lloyd Explains What Happened

After footage of the mishap began circulating online, Lloyd joined in on the joke and explained that there was no intentional wig-snatching involved.

“Her wig got caught on the button of my blazer, and when I walked away, it came with me !!!!!” Lloyd wrote while reposting footage of the incident.

The singer added that the accident was just one of several memorable moments from his Detroit show with Keyshia Cole.

The clip quickly spread across social media, where fans turned the wardrobe mishap into jokes involving Lloyd’s music—including references to his 2010 hit “Lay It Down.” Others were simply stunned by how cleanly the wig came off as Lloyd walked away.

There is no indication from the footage that Lloyd intentionally grabbed the hairpiece. His explanation—that it became caught on his blazer—also matches what can be seen as he separates from the fan and continues moving toward the stage.

Detroit Show Produces Another Lloyd Mishap

The wig incident wasn't Lloyd’s only unexpected moment from the performance.

The singer also shared footage of himself slipping during the show, joking afterward that he might need to start performing in IHOP kitchen non-slip shoes because his red-bottom footwear was becoming dangerous.

Lloyd has shown a willingness to laugh at his own concert mishaps. After taking a fall during a Birmingham performance in November 2025, he similarly shared footage and joked about the embarrassing moment rather than attempting to hide it.

This time, however, someone else's wardrobe became part of the show.

What began as a routine interaction between Lloyd and a fan ended with the singer unknowingly carrying her wig back toward the stage—a few seconds of accidental comedy that quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the Detroit concert.
