Timbaland Says Drake’s “Janice STFU” off ICEMAN Will Be a Timeless Track: “Take It From the King, That Song Gon Be Timeless. Just That Course.”
Kurrco clipped it May 17. Timbaland, arms folded, giving the stamp the internet still treats like a manufacturer’s plate.
Not the verses. The course.
“Janice STFU” is track four on ICEMAN, then the rhythmic single. FNZ, b4u, Rogét Chahayed. Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers” in the melody. Previewed in 2025 as “That’s Just How I Feel,” then sharpened and renamed.
It opened at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Canada, Global 200. Fourteenth U.S. No. 1 as a solo male, past Michael Jackson’s count. First multi-week topper for him since “In My Feelings.” First-day Spotify was already in the 9-million range before the radio add.
Janice is a Rorschach. Joe Budden once joked his “white woman name” was Janice and told a co-host to shut the fuck up — that clip is the title origin a lot of people locked. Others hear blogs, timelines, the 2024 character pile-on. Others hear Sopranos. Genius annotators also hang Kendrick bars on the second half. Drake did not issue a decoder. He issued a chorus.
Timbaland is not on the credits. He is on the quote. When he says timeless he is talking about the part that survives the news cycle the verses are fighting. Buried alive, come dig me up. Still scorching. The hook that O’Shea Jackson Jr. said would not leave.
ICEMAN is a stack of records and grudges. This is the one the charts picked to live on the radio tab. A producer who built the 2000s saying the chorus will outlive the caption is the kind of co-sign that does not move streams and still moves the conversation.
The graphic is Drake with the mic, Timbaland with the arms crossed. King talking to king language. The song already did the number. He is betting the melody still works when nobody remembers who Janice was supposed to be.
