Years after his death, XXXTENTACION's enormous presence on streaming platforms remains one of the defining pieces of his musical legacy.

In June 2020, the late Florida rapper became the first hip-hop artist to have three completely solo songs surpass 1 billion streams each on Spotify, reaching the milestone without relying on featured artists for any of the three records.

The songs were “SAD!,” “Jocelyn Flores” and “Moonlight.”

It was a remarkable achievement for an artist whose mainstream career lasted only a few years before his death at 20 years old in June 2018.

“SAD!” had already established itself as the biggest commercial record of XXXTENTACION's career. The song became his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 following his death and also shattered Spotify's global single-day streaming record at the time, generating 10.4 million streams on June 19, 2018.

The record eventually became his first song to reach 1 billion Spotify streams in 2019. At the time, Forbes reported that the achievement also made XXXTENTACION the first deceased artist to have a song cross Spotify's billion-stream threshold posthumously.

“Jocelyn Flores,” from his 2017 album 17, followed into billion-stream territory, while “Moonlight,” from his 2018 album ?, became the third in June 2020.

That third milestone put XXXTENTACION into Spotify history as the first hip-hop artist with three solo billion-stream songs.

The Records Kept Growing

What makes the accomplishment even more striking years later is how far beyond 1 billion those songs have traveled.

By September 2026, “SAD!” had accumulated roughly 2.58 billion Spotify streams, while “Jocelyn Flores” stood at approximately 2.52 billion and “Moonlight” had surpassed 2.5 billion.

And those three records no longer represent the full extent of his billion-stream solo catalog.

“Hope” is approaching 2 billion streams, alongside “Revenge” and “Everybody Dies in Their Nightmares.” “Look at Me!” has surpassed 1.7 billion, “changes” has crossed 1.5 billion and “the remedy for a broken heart (why am I so in love)” has surpassed 1.1 billion.

Even “F**k Love,” his collaboration with Trippie Redd, has surpassed 2 billion streams, although that record would not count toward the solo-song distinction because Trippie appears on the track.

The numbers underline just how unusual XXXTENTACION's streaming longevity has been. His biggest records have continued accumulating hundreds of millions—and in several cases billions—of additional plays years after his death.

What began with three songs making Spotify history in 2020 has since developed into a catalog containing numerous billion-stream records, with “SAD!,” “Jocelyn Flores” and “Moonlight” now sitting at more than 7.5 billion Spotify streams combined.
