YouTuber and social media personality Jack Doherty was arrested in South Florida on Friday, Sept. 4, after police responded to a reported domestic dispute at a Fort Lauderdale residence.
Doherty, 22, was taken into custody by Fort Lauderdale police and booked into the Broward County Main Jail on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, according to police and jail records.
The arrest marks another legal issue for the popular content creator less than a year after a separate arrest in Miami Beach.
Police Respond to Domestic Dispute
Fort Lauderdale police said officers were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Southwest Fifth Court in the city's Riverside Park neighborhood at approximately 11:56 a.m. Friday.
According to preliminary information released by police, Doherty and an unidentified woman became involved in a physical dispute inside the residence. Authorities said the woman was not injured. Doherty was subsequently arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
Police had not publicly released a detailed account of what allegedly happened inside the residence as of Friday evening.
Sources close to Doherty, however, told TMZ that the influencer acted in self-defense during the encounter. That account has not been independently confirmed by law enforcement, and police did not publicly endorse the self-defense claim in their initial description of the incident.
Doherty has not been convicted of the domestic battery charge.
Second Florida Arrest in Less Than a Year
Friday's arrest comes less than a year after Doherty was taken into custody by Miami Beach police in November 2025.
In that case, Doherty was initially arrested on allegations involving possession of a controlled substance, marijuana possession and resisting an officer. Miami-Dade court records later showed that he entered a pretrial diversion program.
The November arrest drew considerable attention online after police body-camera footage captured Doherty's interaction with officers. He later publicly discussed the experience and described his time in custody as the “worst day” of his life.
Doherty has built one of the larger audiences among his generation of online creators, accumulating more than 15 million YouTube subscribers through prank videos, stunts, livestreams and other viral content.
His latest arrest places him back in the Florida legal system, this time facing an allegation stemming from an alleged domestic incident.
As of the initial reports Friday, authorities had released only limited information about what led to the confrontation. The claim that Doherty acted in self-defense remains the account of sources close to him rather than an established finding in the case.
