Drake Told IShowSpeed to Stop Barking. Then Pinkchyu Said “Bark.” He Did. Then He Texted Darren to Take It Back.
December 20, 2023. Drake posts stills from the “You Broke My Heart” video. IShowSpeed, in the comments, asks the question the entire internet already knew he would ask: “Drake how do i get b*tches like u.”
Drake’s reply, which HotNewHipHop and Sportskeeda locked the next morning: “Stop barking at them off the rip maybe just say something nice.”
It was already a bit. Speed’s whole act is volume and dog sounds. Drake hanging up on him earlier that year after a stream call gone sideways was part of the same file. The comment read like an uncle and a ratio at once. DramaAlert put it on the timeline. Speed’s corner said it would take ten years to recover. That was the advice on the record for two and a half years.
August 8, 2026. Kick. Stake’s ninth anniversary. Kyle Forgeard’s 20-v-1. Twenty women, three labels, a gambling logo. Pinkchyu — Lin Lamar, goth streamer, fangs in the recap, Texas in Drake’s own explanation — sits down. Roleplay comes up. He tells her she can look him in the eye and if she says do anything, he will.
“Would you bark for me?”
He does. Not a half-cough. Multiple “arf”s. She says “Good boy.” LADbible and the NELK cut made that the clip. He later puts her in the “wife” slot over Lena the Plug and Jordyn Lucas, asks what to buy, hears “a house for my mom,” says he would love to. She posts that she is the goth baddie he had been describing since the Bobbi Althoff interview. The bark is the part that needed a lawyer of memes.
The retraction
Complex and LADbible caught the Instagram Story: “Darren… I retract my statement.” Screenshot of the 2023 exchange attached. He also pushed Speed’s live reaction — Speed watching the man who told him not to bark, barking. Speed’s line in the recaps: he was talking all that, and now Drake barking.
That is the whole joke, and it only works because both men stayed in character. Speed is the one who was not supposed to bark. Drake is the one who wrote the rule. The rule lasted until a woman in a spiked choker asked nicely on a casino stream.
Why the contradiction is the content
The 2023 advice was never a treatise. It was Drake telling an 18-year-old streamer that coming in hot is ugly — the same instinct that made him dump the phone call. The 2026 bark is not him discovering dogs. It is him playing the bit he told someone else not to open with, because the bit is now the date and the date is now a YouTube title.
Context does the rest. He is 39, two months from 40, three albums deep from May, Stake paying for the night, NELK running the conveyor. Pinkchyu asked for a trick, not a first message on the sidewalk. Speed asked how to get women like Drake. Drake, on a dating-show set, got the laugh by becoming the thing he mocked.
Retracting on Stories is how you close the loop without a think piece. He did not delete the 2023 comment. He put Darren’s name on a slide and let Speed clip the hypocrisy. That is the only honest ending available: the advice was for off the rip. The bark was on command, on camera, with a house for someone’s mother hanging off the end of the same conversation.
What did not change
Saying something nice is still better than barking at a stranger in a grocery store. Doing it because a streamer you just named “wife” for an hour asked you to is a different sport. IShowSpeed does not get a new handbook. He gets a meme of his mentor failing the test on purpose.
Pinkchyu got the clip, the title, and a public maybe on real estate. Drake got the ratio he could have predicted in 2023. The pen-isn’t-dry speech happened on the same Kick night and will be forgotten next to the arf. That is fair. Advice is cheap. A champion rapper barking on cue is eternal. Darren already knew.
