Foogiano’s name popped back onto Bureau of Prisons records in May 2026, and the internet treated it like he had been locked up again.

The listing showed Kwame Khalil Brown, register number 73957-509, located at RRM Montgomery, with a projected release date of January 13, 2027. That was only about three weeks after he walked out of a five-year federal sentence in April. Pages ran with “back in federal custody” and “probation violation.” No Jumper and mixtape accounts posted the same line that sits on this graphic.

RRM Montgomery is not a prison. It is a Residential Reentry Management site, a federal halfway house. The Bureau of Prisons uses those facilities for the last stretch of a sentence: curfew, job checks, counseling, and supervised housing. The 2027 date is the end of BOP supervision, not a new five-year bid.

Foogiano’s manager called the jail headlines clickbait. XXL and other outlets followed with the same correction. He was not scooped up on a fresh federal indictment the way the first posts made it sound. He was in the standard reentry pipeline after a felon-in-possession case.

That original case is why the record still exists. In 2020 he was on probation from a Georgia gun charge, cut off an ankle monitor, and ran. Marshals found him in Memphis in 2021. He pleaded guilty and took five years. He had already done state time on a 2013 burglary. When he got out in April 2026, fans posted “Free Foo” collages with old Gucci photos. Three weeks later the BOP locator flipped to Montgomery RRM and the celebration flipped to panic.

The rumor that he got violated for leaving the state to see his kids in Georgia never had an official charging document attached to it in those first reports. What did exist was the inmate locator line and a prayer-hands Instagram story that people read as confirmation.

Gucci Mane had kept Foogiano on 1017 after clearing most of the roster in late 2024. That is the same roster that later blew up with the Pooh Shiesty studio case. Foogiano’s situation is separate. He was not named in that Dallas kidnapping and robbery indictment. His problem was the leftover federal clock.

Halfway house time still counts as federal custody in the narrow BOP sense. That is why the headline is not fully fake. It is incomplete. He was not back in a cell block. He was in a reentry bed with a January 13, 2027 date hanging over him until supervision ended.

For a 1017 artist, that is the pattern. Get out. Get posted. Get listed again. The money photo on the graphic is the brand. The locator page is the paperwork. Both can be true at the same time.
